THE OVERVIEW
Offered for an appreciating new owner is this rare collectible 1972 Datsun 240Z sports coupe! This 99.99% rust-free example is a fabulous find for the classic Z enthusiast featuring ALL MAINTENANCE RECORDS SINCE NEW INCLUDING ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER FROM WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED NEW HERE IN SAN FRANCISCO NEARLY FORTY YEARS AGO! It sports the excellent running 2.4 liter inline six cylinder engine mated to the factory 4 speed manual transmission. The orignal carbs with orange air cleaner are still intact. The working five-digit odometer shows almost 75,000 miles though it appears from the maintenance record progression that the car has 175k original miles. The car is currently equipped with later model 280ZX wheels with good rubber. It has the original Hitachi am/fm radio with also working electric antenna. This cool little classic is being offered here with a low reserve [about the coast of the sales tax on a new Nissan Z!]

THE BODY AND TRIM
As I hope is articulated in the photos here the body and trim of this always California and Nevada car are in good, nearly 100% rust-free condition overall. The silver grey repaint is a fair quality only and YES there is a decent-sized dent on left rear qaurter and bumper. I see only one area where there is slight cracking/corrosion on the paint near one rear wheel. The front bumper is currently uninstalled and needs two large bolts to be reattached. The window sticker shows the paint code to be 113, which from what appears to still show in the spare tire well, to be a dark green.
THE INTERIOR
The interior of this 1972 240Z is in EXCELLENT TO SUPERB CONDITION overall featuring the original steering wheels, all working gauges, working Hitachi radio and electric antenna, CRACK-FREE DASH, beautiful original headliner and door panels, nice carpet mats, solid floors below, working choke as well as fully functioning blinkers, horn, etc.. The tan upholstery with correct dots seems to have been redone at some point. While the seats were under sheepskin covers which I removed, they appear TOO NICE to be original. The rear hatch area is in very nice original condition as well with spare tire below. Under the front bonnet is a VERY PRESENTABLE seemingly very orignal engine compartment with all elements intact.
THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE
This classic 240Z starts, runs and drives QUITE WELL with good power and willing acceleration from its 151 horsepower inline six cylinder engine motivating the 2300 pound body of this little sports car. The transmission shifts up and down perfectly with excellent feel, the suspension is FIRM yet free of any clunks, rattles or shimmies. The factory choke works as it should, the brakes stop well and straight, the clutch engages smoothly while perhaps slightly high for my tastes. This is a fun car to drive with responsive feel and excallent handling as well. I can see where this car put Datsun...I mean Nissan... on the Japanese sports car market!
