Description:

I am selling my 1982 Datsun 280zx. I restored this car around 2005-2006, and have invested thousands since then. The car has a new engine in it with approximately 30,000 miles. The chassis has approximately 140,000 miles. The car is a 2+ 2, so it has two tiny fold down seats in the back. I am the second owner (purchased in 1986 and still have the original window sticker). The car has a 5 speed manual transmission, and drives great. Very torque-y vehicle - power windows, mirrors, steering, modern radio, air conditioner, etc.
- Replacement L28 engine with 30,000-ish miles. Fuel injected, tuned up, runs great
-Borg Warner T5 5 speed manual transmission - also works flawlessly
-New clutch
-Brand new radiator
-Retrofitted and recharged AC system
-New clutch master/slave cylinders
-New brake master cylinder
-New carpet kit installed in 2005
-New paint in 2006 - Premium 2 stage urethane chromabase paint...Mostly black with a gold accent going down the side of the car, and gold around the bottom. (clearcoat is flaking on the spoiler, and has faded on the roof)
-4 piece bodykit (includes front air dam, side skirts, rear skirt)
-Small modest spoiler
-The radio is a Pioneer DEH-p2900MP, it has CD/WMA/MP3/ XM and satellite compatible, and also has an Aux input for your device.
-Radio goes through twin Pioneer 6x9 speakers in a speaker panel in the back - 250 watts max each.
-New brakes and rotors about 5,000 miles ago
-New struts on rear wheels
-New tires with around 3,000 miles. Kelley Charger 205/60/R14's mounted on original alloy wheels
-Headlight covers from MSA
-Brand new hatch struts and windshield wipers
Of course, this car is not perfect. Most of the restoration occurred in 2005-2006, and the car has been driven lightly since then. The car is practically rust free (Trust me...I know rust from a 260z project I'm working on), but there is a rust spot at the top of the windshield on the driver side, as well as the passenger side floor support running under the car. there are some paint chips along the lip of the front air dam, as well as a dent (although not very noticeable) in the passenger front fender. There are also other minor paint flaws. The roof has lost some of its shine, but the clearcoat is still solid. There are a couple small dings, scratches, etc. Theres another clear coat issue in the very corner of the hood. The speedometer began acting up, and eventually broke the needle, so it has been disconnected from the transmission, which in turn has disabled the odometer and trip odometer. I have been using a GPS as a speedometer. The tachometer also has a broken needle. Cruise control does not work, and the dome lights inside the car don't work (but may need a bulb). The original seats have seat covers over them because they seemed dated to me, but they are actually in good shape with the exception of some staining. The rear skirt has a crack in it, but it is not too noticeable. The dash was cracked, so I installed a dash cap, but the dash cap warped and cracked. I have been driving it like this, but to really make the dash look good it could use a new dash cap ($50 from Victoria British). Some of the interior panels have been beaten by the sun, and cracked.
Like I said, this car is not perfect. However, it is very reliable and would make a good daily driver that looks GREAT from 5 feet away. for a 29 year old car most everything is in great shape. This car has been well taken care of, and gets compliments a lot. It is truly a blast to drive. The only reason I am selling is because I have a 260z project that is taking my time, so I no longer have any real justification for keeping this car. If you have any questions about it, or anything, please feel free to email me or give me a call at (865) 567-1540 at any time. I also have a ton more pictures. The car is located in Knoxville. Thanks for looking!
