Original Owner's name is "Joe M." I am listing this car for him as I'm a member on this site. Joe bought this car in his mid 40's and now would like to find it a good home – someone to refresh it give it a longer life.
Description: Joe purchased this 1972 240z in May of ’72 for $4429.00 - see the attached invoice. He always garaged it and never drove it winters and very in frequently in the rain. He really stopped driving it summers around 10 years ago when it vapor-looked up on a trip when he and his wife were on a busy roadway. His wife refused to go anywhere in the car after that! Joe just kept it and used it sparingly since appreciating the Zcar for it's natural classic beauty.
This car is all original and unmolested many, many, matching stock numbers. Even the engine still has the original air pump, clamps and stock parts. SU's were rebuilt 4years ago and the engine runs terrific. Transmission fluid has been changed several times and is original, the interior is all original. New tires were added about 5000 miles ago, new brakes were done about 10000 miles ago and work great. Joe has done routine maintenance faithfully changing the engine oil, points and plugs as specified with the dealer following the maintenance schedule as prescribed in the owner's manual. The car was just NYS inspected and passed (other than needing new wiper blades). Joe has a mechanic personally take the car for tune-ups and routine maintenance. He keeps it for several weeks while getting it inspected and runs it - he had it up to ~120mph on the Interstate as it was still climbing! It drives extremely nice, solid - no rattles.
Body: Joe had the car painted by Maaco from Oct ’91 till April ’92 which was a bad experience in his mind. Although the Paint does however look very good and several body parts were replaced with new metal (rockers & front fenders). Rear quarter panels look very good and had new metal added - very solid and in good shape. He has an itemized bill of everything done including all the parts. Overall the body is in very good shape... doors included are solid with no signs of rust. All the chrome is original and actually in very good shape with no dents or damage. He’s missing the emblem's on his back hatch, and the lower front fender emblems. He does have them along with others parts he's saved. There is minor damage on the lower passenger fender behind the front wheel. It’s bent very slightly caused by the tire mechanic lifting it incorrectly when he had new tires installed, it can be easily corrected.
Interior: Interior needs a bit of a refresh. Seats are in great shape - the may have been redone as I don't see the 2 back vents on either seat. The Dash is stock and NOT cracked in very good shape. All Glass, door panels, visors, headliner and trim is all in very good shape - cleaning and using Lexol Vinylex can bring them back to life. Clock and amp-meter gauge stopped working, all else works perfectly including the Stock radio, Speaker and Antenna !!!
It's an extremely rare find, the original owner of this 1972 240z... has babied this car for 37 years!
